This is so wrong in my experience...
83-84 degrees is the temperature required to kill FRESHWATER ich. Saltwater ich (cryptocaryon) has an accelerated life cycle under increased temperatures. However, heat doesn't kill all life stages of the parasite, so the temperature will have to be maintained. 30 days will do it for sure. It worked for me. My GF was home with the fish for 2 weeks when ich broke out. I had her put the heater in and when I got home they were symptom free!
you inhibited the parasites ability to reproduce at those temps but did not kill them with heat, you basically starved them out in a sense. 87-88+ is when Ich will begin to die due to the heat, in addition to not being able to reproduce or feed.
