Here&There
Is it safe to eat a fish that has outgrown an aquarium? With all the pollutants in waters all over the world, is it ok, or even safer, to eat a fish that has been raised in a hobbyists aquarium? Granted, any home tank is more crowded for a fish than its native waters, and most people use chemicals in their tanks, but which is worse: eating wild caught or home grown? Is it an option for the hobbyist with a 3foot long red tailed cat in a 4foot tank? Scientific reasons? Ethical? Even if it's OK, would you be able to enjoy eating a fish you have kept for years? Anyone done this?
[DISCLAIMER: I'm not in this predicament or seriously considering it. We should all be responsible fishkeepers & plan for the housing of any species we choose to keep thru adulthood. I just want to know if you could.]

I've always heard that water conditioner makes aquarium fish inedible.

To go along with your disclaimer: You should always try to buy fish that won't outgrow your aquarium....or get a bigger aquarium.

i eat mine all the time because my fish are always gasping for air or if they kill each other. i put them out of there misery because i get hungry.

i dont like wasting anything.

There's other threads about this floating around MFK.
