Actually, Peanut... Chocolate Cichlids are H. coryphaenoides, NOT H. temporalis. Tsk.

They look like gold jags, without a better pic.

ACTUALLY Sanny, the TRUE Chocolate Cichlid IS Hypselecara temporalis....;). Take a looksy. H. coryphaenoides are ANOTHER type of Choc. that are much more rare. They are often refered to as Panda chocolates...;). Thank you come again! ;)

Panda Chocolate? After 15 years of keeping temporalis AND coryphaenoides, never have I once heard that term....

Reference to that name please.

ugh, I hate hand shots - an in tank shot would be much better. Even more blurry in your hand with the flash and glare :)

You amaze me man. Seriously you do. First you go off about H. temporalis isn't a chocolate cichlid, and that H. coryphaenoides is. Then I come back and correct you, and you say you've been keepin them for 15 years. That kinda contradicts yourself. I've heard them refered to as panda chocolates on several occassions. Keepin them for 15 years like you say, you'd think you would have heard it as well.

I said that was to suffice while I did better.....

Looks great man. I'm just confused. Were you trying to get H. temporalis and got calvus instead? Still tryin to figure out why you called them H. temporalis...haha

Penny, how about that reference I asked for? If you feel the need to correct me, you need to be able to back it up with a reference. All I was saying is, I personally have only referred to coryphaenoides as the chocolate cichlid, and temporalis, as temporalis. Wow, you love to bicker over words don't you?

All I am asking, dear, is for a reference to "Panda" Chocolate, as it's a new one to me.

And yes, I have kept both species on and off for the past 15 years. That does not mean we call them the same thing.

And thats where the problem starts. Saying that H. temporalis isn't a chocolate cichlid will confuse people, especially those that are new in the hobby. They are BOTH chocolate cichlids, but clearly different species. I really don't see the need to reference it to you though. I've heard it, you haven't. I'm just surprised you haven't...lol...

LOL.... the elusive reference huh... I'm going to try googling it. Panda Uaru's, but not Panda Chocolates.... See what I come up with, as you aren't prepared to back yourself up
LOL
