Thats what they are. Been trying to tell him that for quite a while now...haha. Definately either calvus or comp...pretty sure they are comp. though. Just look at the shape of the bodies and heads. That along leaves no doubt. You have african cichlids, definately nothing that is SA/CA...;)

are calvus more coveted, or are chocs? They are both not every day but far from rare. They do look a lil like calvus and ect....but how could this happen? I am tempted to keep them, but I want chocs. I have never seen a calvus on here or anywhere else (I never look in the african section) I don't care for africans. They have a S.A./C.A. look to them, but I am lost.....Santaury is a great fish "guesser" to say the least and he is better than anyone on here (or at least the most common guesser and high 90% rightness. When he gets stumped the fish is not "that" common. My photos are awful, of micro fish sorry. My cam takes a bunch of good photos in many threads.........

He thought they were gold jags...lol. If you know your cichlids you could clearly see they weren't SA/CA cichlids...;). Even as juv. it was clear they were either calvus or comp. Their body shape made it stick out like a sore thumb. I think you are gonna make us all regret what you said in your remarks though...oy!

:iagree: 2. Compare with your fish how close to the top of the mead/mouth area the eyes are. That is not shaped like any CA/SA I know of the closest one I can think of would be a petenia splendida.

Def. not a gold jag you can tell that head shape not dovii, jag or bay snook. There may be a rarer choclate cichlid but most any you find will be H. Temporalis and that is what rapps list's choclate cichlids under..(sp?)
