I'm looking to upgrade air pumps in order to power several filter upgrades.

I'm currently running Coral Life luft pumps but rather then buy several more I'd like to just upgrade to one big pump.

Thinking along the lines of a pondmaster 60 pond pump. If there's something out there that's marginally better I'm open to recomendations. Not sure if a 60 is what I need or not. Anyone have 60s or 100s? How's the noise level on them? Pump will be in the basement so I can deal with a little noise. Wondering if a 100 would be overkill? Don't really want to waste power as I'm already at $300/mo in electric/gas. The 100 is double the electrical consumption so unless I can use it all I think I might be better off with the 60. Afterall total gallonage will be below 3K, but reactors do need a significant amount of air.

I currently have 8 tanks running. I'd like to be able to power several of them with this pump. The biggest is 750, smallest is 75.

Been down the blower road. Not intrested in doing that again.

Thanks guys.....

check ebay, never tried them but they have ones for like 1 acre ponds. obviously expensive, but check them out

Check out Alita Brand pump. They are top notch and they are dead silent.

If you don't mind a bit of noise, go with a linear piston air pump instead of a diaphragm air pump. You'll get better reliability.

Check out kensfish.com or jehmco.com for some other options.

Alitas seem to run low pressure compared to the pondmaster, making me think that 3' of depth is gonna bring about the same problems I had with the blower. They also seem to lack the cfm of the pondmasters once you do all the conversions when compared $ to $.

Will look into the Jehmcos.....

Doesn't look like the pondmasters can be beat for the $. Similar specs from Jehmco will still run you $100 more with shipping.

Can't seem to find wattage specs over there either.

Power they draw is enough to rule them rediculous.

The noise they make will make you wanna off it with a hammer.

Thier inability to push any kind of air in a tank 2' or deaper is nothing shy of sad.

They may be great for a fish shop that runs 50 tanks that are 1' or less deep, that you can walk out of when the noise drives you crazy but I'd rather blow through airhoses myself then have one of those things in my basement.
