silver dollars are not fin nippers I have kept them for years will all kinds of fish.

I've seen many fish "definned" by SDs...Usually angels and the like...

No i have a reg silver aro, that one is a Jardini .:grinno:

small silvers are very fragile and every precaution should be taken w/ them. i would say after he reaches 6" or more start trying him out w/ some tankmates. until then i would keep it by itself and watch after it closely. any pics?

This is a silver still with eggsack, it should be kept by itself. The SD may or maynot be a poblem for the aro but at that size it would be doughtful to recover from any sort of an attack.

i follow the general concensus: leave it by itself till it gets a little bigger, but should be fine w/ SD's once its large enough. be patient (unlike me, lol)

ive had small aros with various tankmates before.
i wouldnt reccomend it.
i didnt have an extra tank at the time.

well depends on the size of the silver dollar..

i don't hink silver dollar is a fin nipper but they move rather swiftly and very jumpy...it might stress out ur silver aros...

I'm trading in some silver dollars this weekend because they're eating my plants and nipping the fins on my liechardti. The aro and the silver dollars are about the same length.

yea, all depends on how big the sds are and how big is ur aro. if they aro is more than twice as long as the sd, i'd say it's ok. i've only seen my jar takin big chunks of my red hooks' tails off, never the other way around. and plus, they share the same habitant in the amazon in the wild, don't they? o, and if ur plannin on havin real plants, then forget about sds...they're such pigs, they chowed down all my plants that i had -_____-

I have a 1 1/4" aro in my tank just a little fry, I have 2 balas, pleco, 4 convicts, and 1 tetra. They all seem to get along fine, I dont see why you couldnt get a couple small silver dollars.
