All boys. to answer you scuba steve some Jags never get the wormy like pattern some stay spotted or mashed as I like to call it where the spots are kinda mashed together. My male has even spaced speckaling which I like more than wormy pattern and used to be mashed so things can change as growth goes on. Usually if your jag is over 8 or 9 inches than his/her markings will be like that forever.

You can see my male in my Avatar. He is almost 9" now.
