I realize that, thanks. But I had further questions on what exactly its ability to filter out undissolved organic solids means... in addition to tannins and other chemicals, could it be filtering some larger micronasties that make it through the UV?

If by micro-nasties, you mean live organisms, the answer would be "No".
I have never read that it absorbs UNdissolved organic solids, only that it adsorbs dissolved organic solids.
