Can you help me identify what type of cichlid i have?

Petstore said it was a cichlids. Been researching and saw it looks mostly like a yellow lab except it doesnt have the black lines. Hope you can help me thanks in advance ill take some photos and tag them here

Also i bought two of them cause i read they need to be in a group but the big one bullies and chases the smaller one non stop. How can i reduce the aggression of the larger cichlid. Thanks you guys in advance

That's not a yellow lab. It's a mbuna species.

Agreed and senegal in case you don't already know they need caves and rock structures in which to hide and stake out their own territories.That should help with the bullying and chasing.

Fish looks like a male kenyi - maylandia lombardoi. Females are blue. Two males will always fight for dominance.

I had some kenyi at one time, the male was absolutely the most aggressive little bugger I had ever seen, I had to give him his own 15 gallon.

Thank you soo much ive researched and saw they do look like mbuna. But also maylandia lombardoi. Im confused if what my fish are

Thank you my 75 gal is on its way and they are currently in a 10 gal with 3 caves that the big one claimed. Hopefully ill buy a few more to lessen the agression

Mbuna (rockfish) is a general term that describes the group of fish that live among the rocks in Lake Malawi. Therefore a Kenyi is a mbuna. Hope that helps clear things up.
