this thread is an example of how identification is nearly impossible.
here's why:
that fish could very easily be a deformed (short-body) red devil.
some may argue it's a midas, but since red devils and midas are continuously mixed (hybridized) by fish farms that breed and supply the mass market, there's virtually no difference whether you label it as a red devil or midas (unless the fish was from a reputable breeder).
however, it could also be a even more mixed fish, with the rise of "blood parrots" that are fertile and able to breed, God knows if it spawned with a red devil/midas.
so, there's just no point whatsoever to even attempt to "ID" this fish.
