dont most if not all young pure midas start of barred then turn their adult colour between 3 and 6 or so inches? thats what i came to understand when i researched it, i have a 4 inch midas that has barres but seems to be turning/changing....
unless im completely wrong and my sources are rubbish?
Yeah I was going off of what I had heard from others. Which you always got to take for a grain of salt sometimes. Nice to learn something new on here each day. Do wish that these fish weren't so interbred though.Other then there being a lot of them crossed this statement is completely false. The majority of the wild population are barred. Colored one can come in anything from solid red to almost solid white for both red devils and midas.
OP, your fish is most likely a cross and could have several different amphilophus bloodlines in it. Unless it came from a reputable breeder/seller there is no way to know for sure what it is. It will be a nice looking fish eitherway.
