I was wanting to get a needle nose gar that i will keep in a 30 gallon tank that i have. The tank inst a tall or a long its measurements are 18"tall 30" long and 13" deep. thanks

I'm gunna go out on a limb and say no...if it's the fish I'm thinking of, it can reach 8" in length and is famous for smashing into the sides when nervous. Maybe a 75g minimum, and that's pushing it...
Unless you are talking about Pike Characin (Rocket Gar.)

I kept a pair in a 30G for about 5 months before they outgrew it. a 30 really is to small they can be very skittish and in a small tank they hit into the sides alot. I would say that minimun for a 10inch adult would be a 75. But keep in mind they can grow to a foot in lenth.

36x18x16 minimum

40 breeder minimum. but Ideally 75 or larger. very skitish.

These are not true gars. Unlike true gars, they are from an enormous family (needlefish) which are 20 foot plus. They are deep sea inhabitants with the exception of a handful of brackish, and one freshwater species.

The freshwater species are tiny cousins and max out at ~ 14". A 40G breeder should be a minimum for a pair. They strongly prefer to school and are extremely nervous unless kept in quantities of six or moe, which would require a minimum 125G setup.

hey i got an idea. try the correct forum!

You might be able to keep one, but you'd need to be extremely careful about its skittish tendencies. Some specimens go on a freakish rampage and manage to rip their own jaw off in the process. I've heard of people lining their aquarium walls with plants to prevent this from happening, but it isn't necessary if you simply be cautious around the tank.

Grow up. Posts get more attention here, plus, needlenose gars are much like "true" gars although they get much smaller.
