I have a90g with rena xp4's. I just added a laguna UV 2000. This thing is huge! I just piped it in after one of the XP4's. It seems like it is way too big. Its 25 watts though. Any ideas?

So, these two guys walk into a bar and.....

It's fine. You have to have a higher wattage when you have a higher gph flow.

My flow is what comes from the XP4. So, nothing extreme. See how it works. Im pretty happy with it. No leaks, clear tank, healthy fish, done!

No, you can't over sterilize your system

Here is a pic of the set-up with UV...

No adverse effects relative to the amount needed to sterilize water of protozoans and bacteria. Fantastic way to keep ich under control (if it's ever been an issue for anyone's setup) You may see a difference over time in terms of your electric bill and the costs associated with replacing larger specialty UV bulbs.

I just like to have one for those "just in case" situations, like ich. In regards to the bill, I just broke down my 100g salt reef set up. Im OK with the UV, so is the wife! Just wanna make sure Im not destroying good bacteria.

I have an 18w on my 210g and I wish I had went larger. Just a week ago I noticed I was getting 'green water' and checked and sure enough the bulb burned out. Coralife wanted like $50 for a replacement, so I shopped online and found it for $27 and that was for two bulbs!

Now that Ive UV in my tanks, I will always use them. Keeps my water crystal clear.
