Can you raise discus in slightly harder water (about 7.8 pH)

Hi Thanks for the feedback... Can't find any local breeders so far.. I am in the mountains of NW Georgia about 2 hours north of Atlanta... Know any breeders out this way? So far it seems the lfs gets them from Atlanta area & I can get them before they empty the bags into the lfs tanks but I'm stuck with whatever fish they send if they are healthy..Would rather find a breeder that I can visit... never had fish shipped due to high shipping costs.. How much would that be and from how far away in the summer is ok for discus?? Thanks
