Can you really tell?

some of the finnage is a little different but i don't really think that you can judge by color, there's too much variation between member of the same species much less whether it's wild or not.

crassipinnis are pretty different...and uncommon enough that the seller would charge accordingly. i agree it'd be pretty hard telling the difference between your standard wild caught O and one that was raised on a farm and just said to be "wild"

The "cichlid guy" told me that the differnce is in the peacock spots along the dorsal fin wild caught have them farm raised don't. It sounded like bull but I just thought i wold ask.

I know that for me most wild O's are appealing because you can tell that they havent been subjected to selective breeding. If you are a purist you would see the difference in every common O and a wild one. For O's to stay popular they were bred to be "pretty". Most wild ones are beautiful because they havent been tampered with. I would say drab but only compared to the ones you see everyday in the pet store.
