dats have been known to pick on armatus... but it all depends on armatus size, dat size, tank size, # of fish etc...

as for keeping 3 armatus together, i wouldnt advise it unless u plan on upgrading to a 1k+ gallon tank in the future...

so a 3" armatus in a 60 gal with 2-3" NTT's, 1-1" NTT, 1-1.5" NTT, 1-3" AT
can be attacked? even with these dats always hiding.

Plenty of others out there that have successfully raised Armatus, If you want advice ask them, mine are all in the freezer.

BTW I value your opinion and I feel others should too. You've given sound advice from experience.
Although I will try to house 2 togther very very soon anyway
Now I think I have a Raph to throw into the equation also.
Actually you and Vamptrev helped me out a lot when I got my Armatus.

13-14 inch Armatus dead. 2 6-7 in ATs and a 9 in NTT housed with it.

I assumed it was the NTT since it died within 48 hours of the Armatus and was roughed up.

ATs got a one way ticket to meet "Thickness". Golden rule was supposed to be enforced.... Instead my 10in Fahaka made friends with them.

any other tank mates we newbies need to avoid to keep our armatus alive?
how about black arows? pbass? tigrinus cat? any tank mate at all
that could put the armatus in the freezer??

I haven't tried Aros yet..... Trev has...

Don't know if I'd entirely trust Fei Fengs.

Gar sometimes have a go at them and it always seems to land too close to the eyes for comfort.

I don't know as mentioned before it probobly all depends how many tankmates you raise them with.... At least we're eventully gonna figure it out....lol

I know rays think they taste great..... But then again I think most Characins do to them evil, poison stabber having magic carpets.

I had no problems with a silver aro. He would nip at the Armatus every now and then. The Armatus would charge him often (I assume since he is silver), butnever make any real contact. They seemed to tollerate each other fine

oh boy.. looks like its gonna be solitary then for me or
with good luck, it'll probably go with my black arows since they have
not bothered any fish since i got them. they even back down to silvers only half their size. i hope it works. thanks!
