Can your Dat eat too much?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL!!! Well I am glad to see he is normal. Last night he was so stuffed he looked like he was trying to chew food for quite some time. Don't know if they actually chew but it sure looked like it.

ROTFLMAO My datnoids would eat until they could not swallow any more. And then they would still catch another fish and swim around with it in their mouth until they had room for it. If there were still fish left in the tank, they would continue chasing them around even with a fish hanging out of their mouth! Hilarious

mine have eaten to the point of being unable to close there mouths...

LOL, same here. my 5 inch thinbar ate like 5 or 6 big rosys and he couldnt close his mouth.

GO CAVALIERS!!!!!

good to see theres someone from the HOO CREW on here.

My Dats will go nuts during feeding time, always sucking up as much as they can hold and I get to slowly see the food go down it's mouth. Sometimes I'm afraid that it'll choke, but they always seem to be happy with full bellies. Then they go hide and I won't see them for a couple of day :irked:

mine is only 6" and stops eating pretty quickly. it'll take a couple feeders or whatever then go hide again and might come back out if it gets hungry again.

LOL!!! good thread! ...i was wondering this also...my 2" indo also eats like a pig! he'll gorge himself and then stop..then come back begging for more! its great! ...i think i'd be pissed if he didn't eat that much..lol

if you feed them regularly you dont have to overfeed them, the 15'' ST i had twice threw up after eating his and all the other fish's food before they could get it.
i could have easily lost all my fish.

I do feed regularly...I feed once a day, sometimes twice. I was just wondering do they stop when they've had enough or is there a certain amount I should feed each time and that's it?
