My dad spend about $500 + tax for a 72G bowfront tank, (new from Big Als) $100 for a Rena xp3 filter, $20 on heater, $100 for substrates, plants, driftwood and $500 on fish

CRAZY eh?!?

I spend about $100 on my setup (tank + stand), $90 on light (Coralife), $60 Rena xp2 filter, $40 substrates and deco, $20 heater, and $200+ of flowerhorn

yeah, brand new stuff is expensive.

having said that, there is something special about getting a monster set up with all brand new stuff..its better than sex lol

but its not free.. :)

I was planning to buy a 20G long for my 2 baby flowerhorn

but

stumple on this deal

two 7.7G jebo tank with hood, light, filter and pump $25 each

(fits my stand perfectly)

I guess its better than paying $40 for a brand new 20G long tank

:D:D

or

maybe I can convert it to mini reef tank (Nano Reef <3)

No fishes33 thats not the deal im getting it was in kiji weeks ago the person selling it contacted me after i put in a add looking for a tank 55 gallon or larger including everything i needed to get the tank going for now. I am going to be buying everything new alittle here and there as i can afford it. But was wondering if the subtract thats you can buy through BigAls does it really cycle a tank faster or is the liguid stuff better? Or should i go the fish way. And would the fish i have now work ok to Cycle. I have 1 male Beta, 2 Female Beta's, 1 male guppy, 2 fancy goldfish (i call them golfball Goldfish) And about 6 feeder goldfish.

I would just go the fish way it is a always going to cycle the tank properly.
And keep the deals coming in hopefully we can all save some money in the end.
I am hoping to get enough money to grab a 150 gallon + sometime in sept :)

yeah, I bought my 150 gallon setup brand new except for an XP3 and and AC110 I already had.

because I couldn't afford the $2000 it cost all at once, I bought stuff one peice at a time..

and I got some good deals too.

when our dollar was really strong last year, the Rena XP3's dropped to $139 at big als, so I grabbed one.

I got two AGA 36" twin tube strip lights from Big Als' oakville for $80 each, which is half price. they were on clearance cause everyone seems to go with the T5 lighting these days and they were having trouble moving them..

if you look around, you can save some big bucks and still get brand new stuff.

but it does take some time..
