How often do you guys clean out your canister filters? How often do you replace the media in the levels? What about the intake and output hoses, do you clean those or replace those? I feel like mine isn't working as efficiently as it should be. I generally take it apart every 2 weeks, spray everything off, and rinse it all out.

if your using your canister for bio filtration you should touch it as little as possible. if mech filtration, once every 1-2 weeks is good.
i use mine for bio filtration and clean them only if i see a drop in output, which means once every 1-1.5 year. tubes etc i never rinse but spraybar (if i would use one) might need some more regular attention cuz the holes might get clogged.

best to run 2 canister filters then clean 1 at a time then the other is always strong

i only ever change the white pads in mine once every 6 months and wash the course pad d at the same time thats it never wash the media

when i clean mine i stop the drain in the sink and drain the water into the sink .. take out all the media and place it in the water and clean the filter pads and then replace everything .. my set up is 2 bags of bio rings in each lvl and the stock pads .. its used for bio only .. also once in a while i will mess with the shut off valves to break loose some of the gunk in the tubes ... other then that .. i dont mess with it .

(once a every 1-2 months)

i dont touch mine till the flow slows coming from it.

take the top off, give the trays a little jiggle in the water in the filter. lift them out pore out the dirty water. put them back in refil the filter with water from the tank to keep the bacteria alive. replace the filter floss and put it back together and put it back on the tank.

never clean a fliter to much, just replace the filter floss and clean the impeller. dont clean nothing else.

Canister parts are perfectly fine to rinse with tap water, but make sure you take out the media before doing so and dry it off before putting your trays back in. For media, rinse ONLY with tank water from your waterchange.

I clean my fx5's about once every month and seems to work, Mainly just to clean up the filter floss.

My tank's a little overstocked, but I do it once every 3-4 weeks, when the output is pathetically weak.
I change the media then, rinse out the inside and all of the trays with tap water, but am certain to keep about two gallons of old tank water that just came from the output and pour it over all of the media.
I clean the tubes every couple of months, when they start looking gnarly.
And that's it.
