Canister Filter Fans: What Media U Use?!!!

In wet dry applications. Submerged, they are almost useless.


Plastic straws cut up would be 10x as efficient.

Ceramic media, and submerged canister media is what you need.

Eheim Pro, Eheim Effisubstrate, Siporax, Bio-Glass and Quartz Ball bio-media. In that order.
Lava rock will do in a pinch, just wont last like "real" media and you must use 1/2" or smaller.

I use plastic shavings from my cut up milk jugs. Plant pots broken up. And various other things

In my fx5 I use the fluval ceramic rings, in my fluval 404 I use pot scrubbers, & in my marineland magnum 350 I use regular aquarium gravel.

i use ehiem mech, matrix, ehfifix,and, ehfisynth in a eheim 2262.
