I got a 125 with 3 canisters on it (2 eheim 2215's and 1 fluval 406) i have been running them stock for quite a while now other then upping the mechanical filtration. Browsing around i found a lot of reviews claiming marine pure is by far the best biological filtration available. Reason being is that most of bio media just converts ammonia to nitrate and stops there, while marine pure goes one step further converting nitrates to nitrogen gas keeping nitrates lower in your tank. even if it does not lower nitrates the surface area of the media is HUGE. in canada they go for 90$ a box. so when i went to the states i got 2 boxes for 60$ american. any experience with marine pure?
I am going to switch one of my eheims strictly to marinepure 1.5" spheres and remove all substrat pro, seeing as i have 3 canisters that should not cause a mini cycle or anything to spike right?

I think marine pure is a very good bio filtration but the rest about how it is so much better is a load of crap to be honest. If your system is running good just leave it as is. But if you really want to put it in one of your canisters I would first buy a nylon stalking and load it up with the marine pure set it in your tank to help it seed a little before removing a whole canister of bio

you may get a mini spike, you only have as much BB as the system will support. That being said I dowt anything you would notice or hurt your fish. being as you have 2 other filters going.

I have Marine Pure and a couple other medias that claim denitrification as well. While it does have a ton of surface area and is real good media, don't expect a real noticeable nitrate reduction.

thanks for the replies. im sure it will be a nice boost to my filtration. Also a bonus is after i clean a canister i find the little substrat pro balls everywhere, hard to lose 1.5" balls

Honestly I don't think it'll be a "boost" to your filtration at all as far as anything you'll be able to tell. Substrat Pro is a quality media as well.
