Canister Filter Size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would rather spend a little more and have it last at least 10-15 years like ehiems have been proven to do..... just my opinion

Lol maybe the old style eheims and fluvals, I doubt my fx6 will make it 10 years without an impeller replacement.

I also run multiple canister on my tank. I have 2 sunsun hw 304b and 1 Rena xp3. I've only had my sunsun's for a yr and no problems. Had the xp3 for 4 yrs and still going strong.

Fluvals prob not. but ehiem def without a doubt are still built to last...I guess it was more of a gap since the cheaper canisters don't really get into high tanks.....I always use to go with aquaclears

My 120g had a Fluvall 205 for biological, the tower was 2 levels media and the top level was a few layers or filter pad, then I had a Marineland 350 with my carbon elements for mechanical filtration with a pair of biowheels. One filter rated to 45g, another rated to 75g, everything was always perfect, plus with cichlids and turtles and other aquatic reptiles, 50% weeklys are pretty much rule of thumb.

No is my answer. The size of filter isn't always that important
