Hello everyone, I will be setting up a 110g(6ft lng) tank here in the next week or so and untill now i have been using HOB filters(oh so tired of them) and i am wanting to upgrade to canister filter(s). I do plan on keeping a couple of marineland 350's on the tank aswell but simply for water flow and BB. I have been researching canister filters for a bit now on this site and others but never really get any decisive information on which filter/filter brand is the best or atleast most prefered. I am more or less just trying to find the best value(one that does the best job for the money i put into it) because i am on somewhat of a tight budget.
Also if you could give media suggestions that would be great.

Any info will help, please and thank you!!

I guess i should mention i will also have atleast one powerhead along with 2 marineland 350's + whatever type of canister filter i decide on for total circulation.

I also like the FX5 but they can be pricy, shop around and find a good deal. I just got one from petmountain.com for $248.99

Fluval fx5 with api chem stars.

Thanks Vet,
Haha i always see you say FX5 anytime someone asks about canisters and i certainly wouldnt be against getting one but i cant seem to find a good price on one. I see other fluvals like the 306(i know they are not rated the same) for less than half the price...is the FX5 filter really worth the extra money or would 2 306's work as well/worse/better for the price i would be paying?
