140-180$ for a cf500uv? where are you looking? i bought mine for $90

where did you get yours is more like it!! I paid 130 for a cf-400uv on amazon did i get ripped off???

what kind of fish are you planning? If the fish requires high flow, FX5 is a good suggestion...if not sunsun should be good as well...or for the price of one fx5, get two SunSuns and place them one at each end...

9+in Tiger O, 6+in Texas X Jaguar hybrid, 6.5+in Green Terror, 3 male Convicts around 6in, 3 10-13in Plecos, and about 5 clown loaches will be the stock list at first. Im in the process of moving so once im all moved in and can get all my tanks set up how i want im sure the list will change and fish will be moved or switched around.

see i was thinking something similar to the 2 SunSun suggestion but i was thinking of using 2 fluval 306's. I see them go for 60-80 dollars all the time on ebay. Anyone have any experience with the 306's?

I'm personally a fan of Cascade Canister filters and Reaction 4 Stage Canister filters.

Cascades's are readily available cheap and come with a spray bar, which I love as the spray bar's great for surface agitation and helps with adding dissolved oxygen to your water.

Reaction's are also cheap and have the added benefit of the UV light to help with algae and elimination of some harmful microscopic organisms.

I also personally like using 2 canisters on a tank this way I can seriously break down and clean one while leaving the other running so my biological filtration is guaranteed to stay intact during maintenance.

The Sun-Sun,Aquatop,Marineland,Jebo are are the same filter with minor differances. All made at the same place. The Large models all move allot of water and hold as much media or more than most other brands the same size. So with them you buy one you buy the same except some do not have UV just pick the color you like best:). I run two 406's and I they are not nearly as large so your 306 would be even smaller. It's like a Eheim 2217 vs say a 2260 in size. You will have a heavy load so get the biggest you can afford and I'd run two not one canister in this case. I do think the fluval is built better but I do believe they all carry the same warranty.
