Canister Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they way I see it the canisters will cost more money and might even leak, but will hold more media.

i have used a rena filstar xp3 canister for a couple of years along with my penguin 330 and magnum canister filter. i love the rena and widhed a would have purchased another one instead of buying the magnum. it is a great filter and i have been able to keep a clean and healthy tank containg rays, pbass, tsn and others. i have never had a problem w/ water quality. good luck i think you will like it.

my 150 gallon is running on 3 Aqua Clear 110's. In all my years I have yet to use a canister filter. I am a huge fan of Aqua Clears and have always bought those for every tank size. I am asking you now if I buy a XP3 what will that be doing for my tank??? like if I had two XP3's running on the 150 gallon will I notice any change in anything compared to my 3 AQ 110's????? basicly what I am asking is why would I wanna spend so much more money on a canister???? please I have asked this before on many sites and people keep telling me it's because there bigger.... well I can tell there bigger but what benefits do they offer me???

Unless you feel your tank is not clean enough, i.e. cloudy water, excess debree, presence of ammonia or nitrites. There is no reason to buy a canister. Even if you decide to add more fish I would see if the 3 ACs would handle the increased bioload before buying another filter. If you had a canister there is no way it would circulate more water than the 1500 gph you currently have. Lots of people are always willing to tell people to spend money on what they don't need.:screwy:
