I'm about to build a 360 gallon tank and want to know what you guys think about just using one or two canister filters. I know a lot of you make your own sump filters but i would actually rather fork over the money and get a simple canister filter or two of them and a few power heads.?

I've been searching this site for a while and there is so many different approaches to filtering, it's rather mind boggling.. lol

I was thinking about this one here

or two of these.

You input is much appreciated..

if your gonna be filtering 360 gallons then you gonna need more than 1 fx5.. i know that much.. i haven't actually used them but more people will chime in here

Personally I'd recommend running an Eheim 2262, plus 2 ac110s for backup. If you want to stick only to canisters, then go one Eheim 2262 or 2080, and the Fluval FX5.

I am looking to get a canister right now, probably the ehiem3 2080. the lowest price ive found on the web is 379.99 from marine depot. anybody know if there is a better price out there?

ive seen slightly cheaper on ebay... a sump would be so much easier to maintain....

I like this idea.. an Eheim 2262 and 2 AC 110s what about a 2080 and 2 AC110s.

Thank you..

I thought the canisters were more easy to maintain.. I'm still learning all this and new. I've been out of the loop for years now.. Can you explain please.?

Ive got two FX5s on my 240g.

No problems, good water, etc.

What do you plan on stocking?

Tank Dementions will be 96x30x30 building the tank is fine. I'm a Finish carpenter/ cabinet maker by trade.. But this damn filtering system has me all fugged up.. lol I want my tank crisp and clean though, hoping this route is a good idea .. all the sump filter/wet dry systems some of you guys build are insane. Seems like it would be a lot of time on that end.

I was just thinking it would be easy with these canisters..
