canister filters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would recommend ehiem and that filter will last you for a long time....I also use Fluval and I also have to agree that they are sometimes hard to prime.. I first started ouot using Magnums but I dont really recommend them anymore since they are harder to clean and get clogged quite fast... As for Xp3...I bought 1 and it quit on me in less than a year but thats maybe cuz I purchased a LEMON or something since most of you guys like it...

just though i'd ask the experts about canister filters. what brand is the best? i've heard that ehiem or the marineland filters are good, what about the magnums i've seen in all the magazines. i usually use the hangover bio filters but am going to be getting a 60gal so i want to upgrade.
I have a Eheim Ecco and it's sh*t hot mate would recomend . also Fluval is a good brand.

ive seen alot of filters in American mags that arent sold in the UK like any wheel filters I use 2 fluval 304's in my 120gal tank they the best all round for the price but the eheim's are the finest on the market over here

I have used cascade filters for years plenty of room for all kinds of media good flow rates reasonably price. I have kept discus salt water and a reef system with no problems using these filters

Magnums are lowly regarded by those in the know. The best canisters money can buy are Eheims. Some models even have built in wet dry filtration. The best bang for the back ( so ive heard , as i have not had this model before ) are Rena XP . Price flexibility and reliabilty are good. I have 4 Fluval 404s and they are pretty reliable. The only problem is that they could be hard to prime.
X2 Eheim for the win if you got the cash. The classic canisters are very affordable.
