The FX-6 at the widest spot is 14 1/8 wide at the top
if you position it just right with the little handle tabs at
the 10-2-8-4 position it is 13 3/8 wide .

I think it will fit .

I have a 240 (72x30x25) with a 75g sump and I'm toying withe the idea of a canister for mechanical filtration. My stand has a 15x24x22 space so I'm guessing a fx6 and 2260 are out of the question but I'm not sure since I've read dozens of dimensions and none were the same. Any confirmation that these won't work will be greatly appreciated.
I'm also open to any suggestions concerning smaller alternatives.

I took the pump off the top of my 2250 and put it in the sump. Got a bulkhead and plumbed through some val es for isolating during maintenance.
Mine is full of bio media but I could easily fill it with polishing pads...

I have the FX5 and the Rheims. Get a Eheim 2262 and you will thank me later.

THanks, do you know the width?

Approximately 13" without the little handles sticking out on the lid. The handles are probably about 1" each.
