Canister Maintainance Mess

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here is the finished product. Plus two Emperors 400 HOB filters so I have a total of 1510gph now.:) What PITA (pain in the ass) to run the hoses. :irked: I'll get a UV hook up when I order a ball valve from Bigalsonline.com. I found the ball valve I was looking for online and BTW, it looks nothing like a ball.:D

Serg, I am more productive when I have a few beer time here and there. Since you're Mr Smarty Pants with canister I'll give you a call next time when I am fiddling with new equipments.:raspberry I'm pretty good with HOB filters but this was my first experience with canisters. Trust me, I think I learn the trade of canister maintainance by now.

You can pick the marineland units (pairs) up at most LFS's in both 1/2" and 3/4" as well as on line. They can be used on almost any standard tubing.

What are you talking about? Are you talking about the ball valve or the hoses? The tubing and barb fitting that came with my Marineland c360 only accept 3/4" hoses. 1/2" was not an option.

Hey man, I'm always down to enjoy a few brews with a homie, talk fish, and mess with setups and what not.

Hold on I'll take pictures...these are made by Marineland but are for ANY tubing...

The first picture is them seperated and then together. The set is TWO of these valve/disconnects per card and they are relitivily inexpencive. If I find them on line I'll post a link for you.

Thanks for the pic and link. I really appreciate that. Those Marineland valves are somwhat pricey. I was thinking you meant something like this. I was going to get a few of these to hook up my UV thru my canister. That way I could stop the siphon if I ever need to remove the UV to change the bulb or for cleaning. I'm already learning how to prevent siphon water from squirting at me everywhere.:D Want to buy my Marineland C360? I'll give you a deal on it. There is nothing wrong with it. It's too heavy to haul around and I would like to try out Eheim 2080.

If they were only a valve I'd agree with you but the marineland units are also a quick disconnect. The one you posted was just a valve. By the way the one I posted a picture of is slightly over 20 years old and other than new o-rings still works perfectly. These also work great for tank vacs so you don't have to lose the syphon to change buckets or even tanks...

Sorry...even though they look intresting I have far too many Fluval canisters and spare parts laying around to use anything else. Having everything the same also make setting up new tanks quick and painless.

my xp3 has quik release valve, how come yours does not?
