One Rena xp3 would be enought for my 55g?

Have you had a bad experience with Rena filters? I've only used a few but they've all worked great for me.

GTbEaSt- definitely. I have an XP3 on a tub with two turtles and some mid-sized goldies- all big eaters. It keeps the water clear and clean.

On my 55g I have an AC110, Whisper 60, Fluval 404, and a Powerhead with a Quickfilter. I use AC110, Whisper 60, and the PH for mech. 404 is filled with bio media. AC110 has a small bag of Bio Max on top of the Sponge.

Eheim and Fluval are the Canisters I use and recommend. Though I still want to check out/own a Rena XP series.

well im thinking of using two ac70s...will this be good enought for my 55g???

More is better IMO. But 2 AC70's ought to be fine. If you add to your stock i'd look to do the same with filtration.

If you want an hob go with the ac110 along with your 70 and it will be crystal clear and have good readings as well
As for the Rena, yes,I have a xp4 that is less than 6 months old and its garbage.there is no strong output and needs to be cleaned every week.its just a horrible filter. My fluval 404 blows it away.I should have just bought 1 ac 70 and would have been better off then using the rena.

ok, here is another question....For Ac70 can i use three block sponges instead of using the carbon and biomax pellets...??? I find it easier to just run then with three sponges...the carbon and biomax pellets always seem to rip open....

I've heard that the XP4 is poorly designed- basically just a taller XP3 with a stronger pump, but the same sized plumbing. Try the XP3 before you give up on Rena entirely.
