Canopy Construction...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, here's the "unfinished" product. I haven't finished the stain and varnish yet. The 2 x 4s are still exposed on the bottom part, still have to enclose it and install the doors. Been busy with the family. But anyway you get the picture just for reference. You can make it very nice by using high quality wood. I built this on a budget.

Okay si I attempted a top opening Canopy and FAIL!!!!! my Stand is pushing 3ft tqll and then another 2ft on top for the tank top, THEN having to open the top with those VHO's BLOWING out my Cones and Rods!!!!!

I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Selling the Canopy that I made for the cost of meterials and building a Front opening Canopy!!!!

Why not something like this?

That is basically what I'm planning for the next one... I took back the lights that I purchased as well. They were 5ft VHO's..... Those were WAY to bright! I would have been cleaning the acrylic every other couple of days with those suckers..... So I'm ordering some T5 sockets for my IceCap 430 ballast and will end up using 2 4ft overdriven T5's....

ive got a top opening canopy like the first pic. i hate it. even with a big opening at the back it still stays wet and now has molded and turned black inside. rebuilding from styrofoam insulation sheets and fibreglass. also making it a little taller so itll stay dry and be light, so taking it off for a big cleaning wont be a problem. good luck.
