You can consider adding a bag of aragonite sand or oyster shells to help buffer for KH/GH to prevent your system from crashing. You don't need a whole lot, just enough to add stability to the system.

eddiegunks eddiegunks I agree. The use of Zeolite is a great recommendation. It's relatively cheap, often more so than carbon, and removes far more compounds than carbon. It also takes longer to exhaust and can be recharged (only read about recharging). If you use enough it will get your ammonia down giar giar , you can easily build a DIY filter out of PVC, but then it wouldn't exactly match that pretty shiny new system you've got there...

Im using crushed coral in my system, will that be fine to keep kh and gh stable?
