Ok,I had a 6 inch oscar and a 6 inch EBJD in a 55 gallon tank for a few months together. They got along great.I had a chance to obtain some ruby red oscars from a LFS.He wanted my EBJD in exchange for the oscars.I said ok.I have a 90 gallon tank with a 4 inch severum and some plecos.I would put the new oscars in the 90 and use it as a grow out tank.So I got the EBJD in a bag and knew that I would have to move the severum as the Oscars are only an inch long.I took the severum and put him in the 55 gallon with the oscar. When I came back home, maybe gone 2 hours, the oscar killed my severum.Really thought the severum would be able to handle himself.I feel so bad. What more can I say. Can't believe I did this.

why would u trade an ebjd for oscars. dont get me wrong i like oscars but that trade is cukoo

Electric blues are 3x or 4x the price of an oscar!

yeah that was my first thought, too.

sorry for your loss :( hope the new oscars work out

Ok,to some it may seem like a bad trade, but the guy was a friend of mine and I've been looking for this particular color of oscar for months. And what's the point of having a beautiful EBJD when all he does is constantly hide anyway.Besides that, you're missing the whole point of the story.Don't assume anything when it comes to mixing adult cichlids together.Bad things can happen.

I don't think is that is was to bad of a trade. Have you ever seen an adult ruby oscar? They trump ebjd in my book anyday. Sorry for your loss, a tip would be when you add a cichlid to a tank that already has a cichlid. It is best to move the decor to break any existing territories.

no problem with the trade; the only thing that matters is that you are happy with it . . . I'm surprised at what happened, I would have thought the severum would be okay too . . . but, with a 55G, I guess he just had nowhere to hide . . .

It's all a matter of opinion if the trade was worth it or not. If you are happy, that's all that matters. Sorry for your loss, however put it down to a lesson learned. Never leave a tank unattended or unsupervised when introducing new fish to an an already stocked tank. Hope you enjoy your new guys.
