Was black when I bought it. Turned nice when I put it in the tank with an Oscar. I took the Oscar out because the dat was beating the hell out of the oscar, then it turned black again.
This isn't its natural environment. I bought the fish that day. The Oscar was only with it for an hour total. Hopefully in a few days it will color up after getting used to its new tank. It was in a large tank with a ton of predators and now its alone safe lolA fish that is normally stable like this (not any other Dat, this one) Dat goes unstable when there is a change in it's environment like the removal of the Oscar. The changed stressed it so now it goes black once it is used to its environment it will go light again if it doesn't like its situation for what ever reason a fish has for that it won't. So while you can go round and round about this test the theory by putting the O back for a while and see what happens or try the blood parrot idea.
Yes I read it. It was with the O for an hour only. I bought the dat that day.Where you went wrong is that removing the O didn't stress the dat, it calmed the dat down so that it returned to its non stressed coloration = black. If you read the info in the link that I posted previously I explained in detail how this works with dats.
I will pray to the Dat color godsThat comment was directed at Tom. It's all good amigo, I hope that your dat shines for you again in the near future.
