I have some new algae growing in my tank. it is dark green and is almost blanketing the rocks on the bottom of my tank. my camera on my phone stopped working so I cant send a pic but if anyone is familiar with this and know how to control it please let me know.

Drop nitrates and phosphates as close to zero as possible. Lessen the lighting period and make sure to change your aquarium bulbs.

Old bulbs shift in frequency as they age and can cause it to bloom. Tough bugger to handle but starving it from light and food is the safest approach.

Erythromicin works too but is expensive to dose and can harm the equilibrium of your system. (Bio-filter).... And it only handles the symptom, not the root cause.

I had bad algae issues too and it was because my lighting cycle. Im rather new in the game so I had my lights on WAY to long. I always wanted to watch the tank ha. But recently I got a timer & cut it to 6 hours a day and wala not a spec ever again.
