cant decide between flowerhorns

Actually now I'm buying a double flower red dragon that is 5 inches from Julie for $120

Maybe you should slow down and do a little research on what you want and what you want from the fish. Male, female, big kok, small kok and what you want to pay are all things to consider. The cheapest type of flowerhorns are the RD's and they are everywhere. Maybe you should get a cheap one first just so you'll get more experience. Not flaming, just don't want you to waste your money buying this one and that one. I live 2 hours away from Julie and bought a 4 inch male with nice colors and big kok for $75. Julie gets a lot of business selling and handling the shipping for customers and she always has nice ones at the store for sale. You can't go wrong by buying from Julie.

yeah i know. i have an empty 110g sitting at home its cycled and stuff. i wanted to raise a male flowerhorn with big kok and nice colors, and when i saw julies i bought it right there. cause the risk of buying a baby and then raising it to know it doesnt have genes or that its a female is a waste of time and money. I want to know for sure when its halfway grown and showing great potential, which is why i bought the flowerhorn that was kinda expensive.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was shipping and how many days will it take? I'm lucky she's close to me because then I don't have to pay alot for shipping and I can just look at what I want to buy in front of me instead of looking at pictures or videos or worrying if I'm getting scammed or the fish arrives with diseases or dead.

and are the pictures accurate? like is that the exact flowerhorn im getting or is that what i looks like when its grown up..

shipping was $45 dollars.

That's what I mean by paying a lot for shipping. Sometimes shipping is more than what the fish costed.

If you get it from Julie, her pictures are accurate. However, no one knows exactly how a flowerhorn will end up. A beautiful young one doesn't mean it's going to be a stunner when it grows up. Almost everything regarding the looks and attitude are from the parents. See how the parents look and you can tell how the young ones will turn out.

how do i find out the parents? will julie show me?

I'm not sure if you has the parents at her shop or the young ones are imported. Seeing the parents is important but if you want one with a big kok, getting a male about 4 inches should give you a pretty good estimate on how big the kok can get. You can also post pics here and have everyone help you decide or give advice. Good luck, Ed.

Here's one I got from Julie. He's about 3.5 inches long and you can see that his kok is pretty big and that he has potential. His colors are nice too. Didn't think about seeing his parents because I can tell that it is a pretty good quality male.

nice. my dad bought the $100 dollar one and it had nice coloration and a pretty big kok so im satisfied. i ordered him today, but i was wondering how long it takes for a fish to get shipped. i mean if they stay in the box too long wouldnt they die? i was hoping the fish would come in like 2-3 days but since its a weekend and i cant find their shipping policies or anything on their website im assuming they dont ship on weekends cause it isnt a business day?? also, i was going to post a pic but my dad apparently ordered the last flowerhorn in stock. it was a 4 inch super red dragon and it cost alot so im assuming its pretty nice. we were going to get a 5 inch double flower red dragon for 120 but my dad said he didnt like it as much so yeah. i didnt get to see the picture so idk what it looks like but ill keep u guys posted.

If you have an 110 gallon tank, why don't you use a divider and have your new male and the female on different sides. I think that 55 gallons for each fish is enough. Also, if your new male is really nice and your female looks nice in your picture, you might get some nice ones. The rest of the young ones you can sell them for cheap because there are a lot of cheap SRD's every where. You can use thr extra cash to buy new tanks and fish!
