So, i've kept TONS of fish those of you who know I even keep goldfish ponds and a silver arowana. I recently took two very small oranda goldfish inside and kept them in a 10 gallon tank from one of my ponds because they were small and getting pushed around. Yesterday they were perfectly healthy, eating their veggies, and all the water conditions were exact the only problem was they recently had ich but there was only minor signs left and I was treating the water with Seachem stress coat to keep the slime coat healthy so the ich couldn't come back and prime to prevent ammonia with my daily water changes but nothing else. Today I get home and they have shredded fins from what i think is fin rot, covered in ich, and they have small but deep holes in their head but around it is black. They had been doing wonderfully and growing well for two weeks without a problem and I didn't change the routine. WHAT HAPPENED????? And most importantly how do I keep it from doing it again???

Try the ich salt treatment with aquarium salt and high temperature ( like 1tbsp per 5 gallons, 86 degrees) if you have a heater on hand? Not sure how goldfish will fare at that temp though. Raise it slowly. Not sure about those holes though. Secondary infection maybe?

Goldfish are pretty tough so they might make it!

I'd say use standard ick treatment but the black holes sound like something more is going on.

For the ick, I'd use the treatment suggested by GamerChick5567 GamerChick5567 . You can add another tablespoon of salt on the 2nd day or 2 tablespoons sodium chloride per 5 gallons total. Continue treatment for at least a week after the last spot is visible so you eradicate ick from the tank. Goldfish can handle high temps but you need good surface agitation. Good luck.

I called my Goldie breeder and talked with him. He suggested potassium permanganate. It's good for ich, good for fin rot, and just a good antimicrobial all around. Most pond stores carry it. Now, if they have fish TB, nothing will work. It's lethal. Salt helps to a point, but with so many issues going on, you need a good broad spectrum antimicrobial. I would go ahead and treat the pond they came out of as well. I may be new to this site, but I am a veteran Goldie keeper. I have been keeping goldies for 20 years. I would not bump the heat up on goldies this ill.70 is as high as I would go. When you bump a goldies water temp, you bump their metabolism as well. If the goldies are sick and not feeding well, they will waste away from malnutrition in higher temps. This is all learned the hard way by me, my friend. Good luck, I'm rooting for your babies!
