Here is the xingu that has it bad on both sides.
Then the Bahia/xingu.

So what do I put in my drip system, just a sediment filter?

Crap, i never knew carbon was bad with Cichla. Well someones got to be the example I guess lol.

So If I take out the carbon, what can I run in my drip aside from the sediment cartridge?

Only time I got hith on a bass was when I used carbon. I haven't used carbon in about 7years now and haven't had a problem so I don't plan on going back. Another thing that's been talked about is to much protein in the diet. I only feed massivore but I dont over feed it.

If you take out the carbon then your sol on treating chloramines. I would either try a dosing pump with prime or go back to manual wc's.

I agree.
Also some algae in the diet doesn't hurt. Think of all the live fish cichla eat in the wild. I'm sure a lot of those fish have algae in their diets.

But I think the carbon in the system is the main issue. Li had a setup that dosed with prime during his drip.

Update...

Using meds and swapped out the Cartridges of Activated Carbon for these below... Jim said they work for Chloramines.
