Cant get Juru to eat?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is swimming vertical most likely because he has nowhere to perch himself. Juruense cats IME like to perch themselves on large plant leaves, or flat pieces of driftwood facing the current.

I would dump in a bunch of feeders that will last the tank at least 12 hours. That is how I get all my new fish to eat. Many times new fish get nervous when you get close to the tank or open the lid and won't feel comfortable enough to eat until all of the fish are gone.

well 5th day in 240gl still swimming vertical and not eating, even at night he is still in the same spot :irked:. Should i move him back in the 85gl where he was eating ? or will the change make him not eat for another 5 days or so ? need some advice please!!

I would move him back until he is feeding well again.

Tried mine with earthworms again, dropped them infront of his mouth an he ate them!!!!!!!!!!!
About time I was getting worried!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

thanks for the info!! He just ate an earth worm last night :headbang2first time in 5 days!! good point about perching himself i have driftwood in my tank, but it seems most of my water current is on the serface. Should i put a power head in the bottom corner of the tank to get him to swim on the bottom ? here is a pic of the tank he is in now please let me know if you see somthing wrong with my setup. 240gl, FX5 temp 81.6 F 100.JPG

Do they eat during the day or just at night? And do you have to turn off all the lights at night?

Think I'm going to move my 5" tig to the 40 gallon. they said it eats bloodworms @ the lfs, but i havent seen it eat and it would be outcompeted by my cichla and jar in my 150.
