I also know people who buy cows and pigs and raise them recreationally as pets and eat them.

is it a different story if i eat the fish out of your aquarium

Raising pigs and cows for food is one thing altogether. Now if you specifically raise some fish to eat, like many farm-type setups that do as such, no problem. But eating the fish out of your aquarium is a whole nudder animal. I think someone above said it best...they are swimming in their own waste all of their lives.

Chemicals and the foods you feed them are not meant for human consumption...might as well just start taking shots of great tasting Amquel and make yourself a Hikari food stick shake. Scrumptious!

I would bet that aquarium fish WILL have a slightly different taste similar to the smell of the aquarium they come out of, or basically they will not taste very good.

As far as eating my fish in my aquarium, well that would definitely be hazardous to your immediate health as they will have a protector if you know what I mean lol;) .
Different strokes for different folks...my personal opinion is eating aquarium raised fish is just plain nasty AND morally wrong.

So umm you think the farm raised fish you buy at the supermarket was not raised in their own filth, fed with processed food, and been medicated? Or how bout those vegetables you buy. Most of them have been loaded with pesticides. How bout those processed meat you find in your Mcdonald burger? Ever think about what's in those things?

True true, i'm with you on that one.

It is just your opinion however, its not morally wrong to do just because you wouldn't do it

some fish board, i thought it was this one had a long thread going where a guy took pictures of him eating his two red devils, said it was really good eatin. I don't think there is anything morally wrong with it personally. I guess I don't get emotionally attached to my fish.

I would consider it, if it was getting too big and could not find suitable place for it to live, but i dont keep anything that looks like you could get a good filet off of.

I would truly have to be starving to death. Also, I have seen these little wormy guys (I think twas either Anisakis or Phocanema) in my water (came from Wal-mart ghost shrimp...Wal-mart :irked:) that also infect fish and if ingested by a human can cause anaphylactic shock. Not for me, no thanks.

I don't have problem with it, I personally wouldn't do it unless I had too. In today's society, where there is a grocery store on every other corner, there would never be a situation that would cause me to net'em, clean'em and then finally grille'em.

Even though I know my fish would be damn good...:drool::drool:

Health concerns aside, I don't think I could eat something I cared for unless it was either eat it or starve. Though if it got that bad, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have fish by then. Pets are usually the first thing to go.
