Dang it. It is on the tip of my tongue.

Sorry.

But he does seem pretty laid back

Wow, this is a very interesting turtle. When I saw the first photo I though the plastron looked like a N.A. Wood turtles but after seeing the other photos I know for sure that it isn't one. I think it's a Reeve's turtle (Chinemys reevesi) which is an aquatic species from China, Korea and Japan. If it is a Reeve's turtles then I think it is the Japanese subspecies because they are the largest and have been know to get up to 14 inches while the others stay around 5-7 inches. They are a very friendly turtle species and get used to their owners and almost never bite when being handled. They are also one of the easiest and hardiest species of water turtles to keep, a great choice for beginners.

this dudes shell is like 6-7 inches right now...i thought wood turtle too cause of the plastron... but obviously not from the rest...keep ideas coming cause i havent found anything like him in any of my books yet...

oh ya a customer brought him in and said that he was walkingthrough his yard...and no species of freshwater turtles are native to hawaii as far as i know....and it sucks cause as everyone here including me is stumped on what he is he is very cool...i just dont have the space for him but i am going to take the flicks to a friend and see if she want to put him in her pond cause all i gots is a 29gal that i could us and thats way to small for this guy let me tell ya...
