also someone recommended me a niger catfish would that also work?

Ps sorry for all the questions i just want a right mix of predatory fish because i care about them and dont want any of them getting killed or eaten

ya its just i need a bigger predatory catfish due to large predatory tankmates. But thanks oddball for a good option just wrote it down in my notes

Good idea Oddball i remember someone told me to get a black devil catfish at a crappy aquarium store in californa they were also the same people who told me an electric eel would work in my mix good thing im not listening to them turns out they shock the water to stun their prey it would also probably kill my future tank mates.

Even at adult size a congicus poly is at risk with a suchus. These cats are opportunists from river areas with low density numbers of fish and will latch teeth onto larger prey when that's the only prey available. Think about it. Why would a catfish species develop saber teeth? It's when the availability of food is lower than in other biotopes where catfish exist. If prey is too large to swallow whole the cats will simply hold the carcass and swallow it as it digests.
My 10" suchus is doing fairly well with my bichirs ranging from 6-14". Mine might be the odd man out but I had it in a tank by itself for a little bit at around 68F and it wasn't doing that well until I put it in with the bichirs where the temp is around 82-84F and is do much better. I agree though that this may change as it grows larger but the only aggression I've seen so far is that it doesn't like being touched by the bichirs and when they do touch it, it just nudges them outta the way. The only aggression I've noticed is when I tried to add an indian goonch (HLG) and it went crazy and attacked it. It would go out of its way to go and attack the goonch so I had to remove it and place it in a separate tank on its own right now.
