LOOOL arizona! you'll be fine with 2wd! we do it in canada heck some even drive rwd :p. I feel like any car will really do just be a smart driver that's all.

I will admit we don't get much snow by when we do, it's about 8-12 inches and they don't plow my road plus I'm at the bottom of a fish bowl so to speak. So even though I may only use it 10 days a year, i still want it. I'm soooo tired of 2wd and getting stuck after parking on hills

There is no such thing as "part time AWD" Every AWD vehicle will put power to the wheels when they start to slip/spin - with different ratios. - For example, with my Volvo, the front tires will burn out very easily, without the back wheels getting any power - for a few seconds. Is this what you mean?

Buy what you want, but using the car for a week per year for a rare condition is not worth it to me. Have you thought about snow tires that you can swap in for winter only, or even snow chains when you can predict 8"-10" snow days? I have seen AWD vehicles in the corn fields before, actually once last winter. It's how you drive.

shoot, I live in Colorado and it snows a lot less here than it did when I lived in PA...I don't live in the mountains, though. AWD = more problems, but hey if that's what you really want, then go for it.

suggestion (although you seem intent on foreign): Ford Fusion AWD.

The AWD car I want the most is a Pontiac 6000 :D I did almost buy a Legacy GT once and a Saabaru 9-2X

Yeah I figured I meet be using the wrong lingo, like I said I'm not a car guy. But your right, I'm thinking about the back kicking in when needed as "part time"

I've tried snow chains and snow tires in past years. It did help but I ended up borrowing family and friends awd. It's interesting where I live because we're a mile up, but so hilly that some parts of town gain a lot of elevation the roads collect a LOT more snow and stay for months vs the part if town where I'm at. Also I recently sold a work truck that we used in the winter and my other half sold her car and bought a Honda s2000 so I'm also looking at hatchbacks and crossovers for the added advantage of being able to move things if I needed and have that extra space. But the awd part is for the snow and ice.
