Car - Connecting rod - what?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is from Gary Blake Saab in NH. A reputable dealer.

Today they told me they want all my oil change receipts. Of course I didn't save any of those - they're just oil changes........ mmm

Scratch the above - They didn't need anything. They gave us a loaner car, and will fix the car. Simple as that. Gotta love the REPUTABLE, STAND UP dealers!

You're lucky as hell. Don't blow the loaner up.

LOL - that's what my mother told the guy - "I'll try not to blow this one up!" LOL
Update : There was plenty of oil so it wasn't related to low oil level - not that I thought so - so what the heck? Freak occurrence?
And thanks everyone

Glad everything worked out and they didn't try and screw you over...GL with the new motor...Take it easy durring the break in period.....

If it wasn't abuse or lack of maintainance then most likely it was a manufacturing fault. A small imperfection in the casting of the con-rod, too small to notice when the engine was assembled. But over time metal fatigue set in, the crack spreads and BANG - extra crankcase ventilation. :nilly:

Glad to hear the dealer is looking after you :)

Cheers

Ian

Aquarium - I couldn't tell you - every single car has its weaker points.

Ian - sounds like that is exactly what happened. Thanks for the kind words.
