Car tank.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
look like from the pic all they did was mounted some glass to the front window.. it looks like the black on the window covers the silicone and side window..i would rest the class on the dash and build a 3-6" deep tank to fill as much of the window as possible.. and if thats not enough do the side windows to..

Automotive glass would pop out before it broke. It would take tons of sealing to make it work. There are tons of holes in the firewall where all of the wires/steering column/brake pedal/gas pedal/ect come in. the doors would leak as well. I would love to try it sometime. Would make an AWESOME conversation piece. If it was self sustained (batteries running it) it would be totally awesome to take to car shows. (if you had a trailer to support the weight of moving it). I have a new goal to reach! lol

okay the one thing I'm wondering is if it will get hot in there. If that's the case it may need to be either chilled or emptied for summer.

All of this assumes that one silly little girl can get a car to hold water.

I've already been told I'll have to make a mound for it because the suspension won't hold the weight. I don't plan on making it so it will move full.

it depends on what kind of car it is to see if it will hold the weight. Holding the weight sitting still vs. moving is two different things. I would be more afraid of tire failure than suspension failure. It would squat the suspension probably to fully compressed, but chances are it wouldnt break. the suspension takes some serious abuse just from driving on bumpy roads. Going over a sharp hill can put weight that is many times heavier than the car its self on it. i think you are right about holding water. That would be the most difficult task.

I'm guessing theyre thinking of making it stationary. As in, make the ENTIRE inside of the car the aquarium itself. Think that was the whole idea of the thread.

An AMC pacer would make a good car aquarium if those huge windows didn't break from the water weight.
A pacer would have to be first choice, Lawn art!

i say just make the windows aquariums.. that way it can be driven..if you fill the whole car up it wont be able to move unless hauled on a trailer.
