care for firefish?

I wouldnt suggest keeping them with any Damsel (except chromis) or Dotty,both are agressive lil species and will give the fish a hard time.
On Stocking i would say Maximum 2 per 20 gallons with one other fish etc....
I give 5 gallon per fish as a rule depending on size,you could have 3 firefish in a species tank 20 gall.
As far as i have read they prefer being on there own anyway :S i may be wrong,i would research that one.

i would hardly consider orchid, sankeyi, aldabraensis, or indigo dottys agressive, especially if added later or last to a tank

yeah they get testy if put in more than a pair in smaller tanks.. i've seen 55's and 90's with shoals of them. but never had luck with 3+ in one of my smaller tanks, it'd always round out to 2
cantra to answer your question (sadly with another question) how big a tank would you be looking to get?
if it's under a 55 (maybe even a 40B) i would get two at max
