care tips on Silver Arowanas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't believe know body said "make sure the tank is COMPLETELY coverd. They get out of the smallest opportunities.I even put bricks on top to keep them from popping the top open.

I noticed that if you have plenty of cover (plants) that the arowanas are less prone to jump and they rather swim into the foliage for cover... I also had a lot of floating plants in the sides of the tank with the center with no cover as this is where I would put the pellets. A covered tank is a good idea though, I normally leave little gaps here and there though for air exchange.

thanks ill look in to a bigger tank before i buy one

That's why i bought my first one. I hadn't been into the lfs window shopping for more than a year and they had a 24" silver with a 30lb rock on the glass.

"Is that really necessary?", I ask.

"Yes these little fers will jump out. They prey on small animals above the surface of the water in the wild and can get to several feet in length"

"I'll take it."

Well i didn't buy that one, but that was the day I became ar0wan so many many years ago. GL!
