Career path help

The thing is it was 3-4 years of part time school. I took maybe 4 credits instead of the normal 12 and then I would start working more hours or something and stop for a semester. Then I would fail a class or get a "D" which doesn't even count as passing depending on the class. It's pathetic. I doubt I am near anything. I'm just not good at school. I'm good at doing hard labor, that's why I'm looking for a new career path.

You're putting yourself down and making the excuses in the process. On average, college graduates make a million more than their counterparts. Do you really want to try to be the minority and get lucky? Saying you're not good at school isn't good enough. Colleges will help you out if you have a learning disability. Other than that the only "excuse" is laziness. Millions of people work and go to school AND maintain good grades. You can be one of these people if you put forth the effort and you know it.

I am lazy when it comes to school. I already know that. I would just rather skip that and do something I know I can be good at. My life consists of my gf asking when I will go back and my mom always asking me what class I'm supposedly taking and my grandparents asking if I'm still going. I've put many years thinking about what I wanted to do in life with college and maybe it's time for a new venue. To do something I want to do and not get pressured into signing up for more classes and hating it a month later. I totally understand what you mean though. I just think it's time for a change. I'm getting happier just talking to my gf about doing something besides school. I don't care if it's becoming a truck driver. I'm just happy for once when it comes to a career path I can choose.

That is a giant pile of statistical horse flop. The statistic IS true in so much as when averaged over ALL bachelor degrees. So yes if you average all those BA in fine arts with all those BS in engineering yes. An AA is functionally worth nothing, now it may make you feel good about yourself but industry could not care less. A BA has slightly more value due to this lunacy of college or bust. There are jobs that do not need a degree but one is required because some middle or upper manger needs "Well rounded people".

The classic trades (plumber, carpenter, electrician) are heavily unionized in some areas, unless your daddy was union you are SOL. This may or may not be an issue in your local area.

Two possible options I tried during my painful forced march to a Masters degree in engineering were commercial diving and EMS. If you go the diver route it was a 6-8 month certification. You can go become a rig bunny. It's 12 per hour BUT you keep all of it. When on the rig you get food, housing etc. If you are really good and really stable (mentally) they can jump you up to SAT diver. That's a grand a day and you work 1 month on 1 month off. Very comfortably support a family on that.
EMS is a varied course (mass takes 110 hours) and the starting salary is about what you make now. You can boost your salary with overtime and make very good money you can also advance to para medic.

Having ground through 7 years of engineering and where it lead me it was worth it NOW. From freshman year to graduation had a 65% drop rate. A tiny fraction of those went on the get the MS. That first degree was basically worth squat AND the current job I have was given to me precisely because I had EMS experience plus an MS.
