I have 30lbs of unused carib sand (argonite) and was wondering if i can use this for a 29 gallon shell dwellers tank that i would like to set up.it was originally going to be a salt tank but funds ran out.one more question would ro water be ok to?

That sand is perfect for african fish! It will help buffer the PH and keep the water hard.

No need for the RO water though. It takes out the trace elements in the water. It's only needed in salt tank, but make sure you add the chlorine or chloramine remover.

Filled with tap now.would like to put calvus in,but was told they get to big for a 29.is there a dwarf species out there? does anyone now the name of them? cant find any info.

RO/DI water isn't great for Fresh... But your tapwater might be worse... I found mine has some ammonia in it. no good.

Personally, id rather get one of the Sea Chem water buffers and buff RO/DI water.

Then it would be perfect, imo.

IME Alway, alway ALWAYS, does a little bit of prime in... causes no harm, and prevents any possible harm.

Prime > all :)
