In light of recent events, I was able to redo my 180 gallon. I thought that they were just the common red bellys untill the LFS owner came out and showed me them a bit closer ! Also how AGRESSIVE and NOT SHY they are !

But I have 10 of the little guys, grow them into monsters :) Love how they arnt shy ! Amazing species.

When they get comfy they wil leat anything. In the tank at the store they ate (INFRONT OF ME) Flake food, a cichlid pellet, and a night crawler worm.... When they settle in I imagin the 1 inch convict cichlid will be demolished.

He is in there so they can take their agression out on something other then eachother. I want to keep them all alive ! so there will allways be some random fish in there with them. Also I dont want the aggression to leave ! haha, love feeding live !

By whole fish do you mean stuff I can buy at the market ? Like salmon ?

If you can find it, walleye or perch. It should be gutted and maybe frozen. Then i just cut that mother into slices an feed my cariba a slice. They eat the skin, bones, scales, fins, everything. I even let them chew on the head and gill area. The crunching noises they make are awesome!

Just fed my rbp walleye and it left an oily film at the surface. I didn't like that, must have a little more oil with the skin on?

Try soaking the fish in warm water for a little while. Farm raised tilapia has a lot of oil too. I try to do water changes the day after a feeding so that helps with any oil or film.

Yea I do same wc schedule too, and I do soak in hot water for about 10 min then I rinse as well, talapia has never been an issue, never had oil until walleye with skin on it.... I only have one piece of it left anyways, just didn't want to throw it away or save it.

Pre thaw and rinse off the fish before feeding. I had the same issue with talapia leaving oily coating on the waters surface. Omce its given a good rinse, it shouldnt leave any oils behind, or at least not nearly as much.
